Tahilla Gatherings: Framing the Unspoken
Join Kate Preftakes and Jeanne Henriques for a photography workshop
A Photography & Storytelling Gathering at Tahilla Farm
Small, creative and reflective —
Framing the Unspoken has been quietly unfolding behind the scenes for a while now. It’s the kind of gathering I’ve long hoped to offer at Tahilla Farm—something small, creative, and reflective. A day rooted in nature, light, and the quiet magic of noticing what we so often overlook.
There’s something about June light—the way it lingers a little longer, softens everything it touches, and makes space for stillness. It’s that kind of light that inspired this gathering. A day to slow down, look closely, and see what speaks to you—not just through the lens, but through feeling and memory and presence.
What to expect
Conversation and photography walk with Kate Preftakes, a New England fine art photographer whose work I absolutely adore. Kate’s way of seeing is gentle, intuitive, and emotionally rich. She'll guide us in observing light, finding emotion in what we frame, and allowing our photography to become a kind of storytelling.
Enjoy a delicious country lunch, seasonal and thoughtfully prepared by Carolyn Hough of Cranberry Meadow Farm.
After lunch I’ll guide a slow photo walk through Tahilla’s gardens, and woodland paths—taking you to some of my favorite spots along our poetry trail. You can capture the shimmer of light on moss, a fern curling in the meadow, or simply a feeling you can’t quite name. I know that feeling well and am excited to share it with you.
We’ll close the day together, sharing what we’ve noticed, captured, or simply felt. I have a special keepsake for you to carry the experience home.
Who This Day Is For
This isn’t a technical workshop—it’s an invitation. Whether you're picking up your camera for the first time or have years of images behind you, Framing the Unspoken is about stepping into stillness, paying attention, and letting your creativity move at its own pace.
You don’t need any experience—just bring your curiosity.
