Framing the Unspoken: June 19

Throughout the day, quiet moments reveal themselves—small grace notes waiting to be seen.

A Day of Photography, Storytelling, and Grace Notes

There are certain moments in life that don’t need explaining—-you feel them before you can put them into words.

The curve of light across a quiet room.

The way a flower leans into an August morning.

The hush of a wooded path just before the breeze stirs.

This is the heart of the first Tahilla Gathering of 2025.

Shape the Stories Within

Framing the Unspoken is a day to slow down, tune in and capture the quiet grace notes of life.

Through walking, photographing, and playful still life styling, we’ll explore how light, space, memory, and emotion shape the stories we tell with our images.

We’ll reflect on the art of noticing—seeking the stillness in landscape, the quiet poetry of an interior, the unspoken stories a single photograph can hold.

You’ll learn practical tips from fine-art photographer Kate Preftakes, enjoy a beautiful farm-fresh lunch and share a creative spirit with others who see the world as you do.

Whether using a phone or a camera, this day is about sparking creativity, finding deeper connections, and discovering new ways of seeing—at home, in nature and within yourself.

Our Day Together

Kate will open our morning by sharing practical tips for finding emotion, story, and softness in your images. Her photography is known for its tender, natural style, capturing not just what we see, but what we feel.

Together, we will guide you though the gardens, woodlands and interiors of Tahilla Farm, looking closely at how light, perspective, and space shape the way we see.

It isn’t about technical perfection—

it’s about feeling.

it’s about noticing.

We’ll gather for a farm-fresh lunch prepared by Carolyn Hough of Cranberry Meadow Farm, whose food feels like an extension of the land—fresh, seasonal, and nurturing.

After lunch,  I’ll share how I photograph—often with just my phone—-and how I’ve learned to let images breathe.

We’ll walk the Tahilla Poetry Trail, wander the meadows and style simple still lifes using books, flowers, found treasures—playing with light and story as we go.

Throughout the day, we’ll invite each other to see differently.

When you’re surrounded by others who are also reaching for that quiet connection—something special happens.

We lift each other.

We encourage one another’s creative instincts, without judgement or comparison.

We share a common language without needing to speak it.

We frame the unspoken.

If you feel called to join us for this day of quiet seeing, storytelling, and connection, you can register here.

A Note on Creativity and Invitation

We all carry creativity within us.
It’s not about being the best or the most polished — it’s about how it makes you feel.

Sometimes it's one photo.
Sometimes it's one quiet moment.
Sometimes it's simply the act of seeing.

At the end of the day, Framing the Unspoken is an invitation:

To find beauty in the ordinary.
To honor your own creative voice.
And to leave with a camera — and a heart — full of quiet stories you can't wait to tell.

Meet the guides who will walk alongside you—
